Check Your Fragrance Ratio

Already mixed your wax and fragrance oil but not sure what percentage you ended up at? Or want to double-check your ratio before pouring? This calculator tells you your exact fragrance load percentage.

What Is Fragrance Load?

Fragrance load is the percentage of fragrance oil relative to the total weight of your candle (wax plus fragrance combined). It's different from simply dividing fragrance by wax. A 10% fragrance load means that 10% of your total candle weight is fragrance oil. Getting this number right is the difference between a candle that fills a room and one you have to hover over to smell.

Safe Ranges by Wax Type

  • Soy wax (464, 444): 6-10% is typical. Some soy waxes can handle up to 12%.
  • Paraffin: Generally tolerates higher loads, up to 10-12%.
  • Coconut wax blends:Usually 6-8%, check your supplier's spec sheet.
  • Beeswax: Low absorption, typically 3-6% max.

Always check your specific wax manufacturer's guidelines. The safe range indicator in this calculator uses the general 6-12% window, but your wax may have a narrower sweet spot. Need to calculate exact oil amounts? Use the Fragrance Oil Calculator to get precise measurements.
